As well as providing the views for which the Annapurna sanctuary trek is famous. The sanctuary trail takes you through an ever-changing landscape of rice fields, misty forests and tiny villages. The trek starts from Pokhara and wings through lush subtropical forest and traditional farming villages. A trek of the narrow Modi Khola valley will bring you almost to the base of Annapurna Sanctuary.

This trek provides you information about varieties of natural and cultural diversity. Breathtaking views of Annapurna Himalayan range, picturesque Gurung villages as well as we trek through rhododendron and bamboo forests, as we climb towards the famous Fishtail Mountain Base Camp. From the Sanctuary you will ringed by such giants Ringed by such giants Annapurna Himal, including Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Fang, Annapurna 1, Annapurna 2, Ganagapurna and Annapurna 3. After visiting the sanctuary we use the same route en return back till Chomrong downstream the Modi Khola before making a worthy detour to Landruk, a beautiful Gurung village.

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek Itinerary

Day 01: Meet at Kathmandu Airport : We will meet you at the Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to your hotel. When you have had time to settle in and freshen up after your long flight, you will be invited to visit our office for a briefing about your programme. During this visit we will help you check your equipment and facilitate the processing of other necessary items such as National Park Permits etc.

Day 02: A full days sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley. The next morning after breakfast you will leave for a full days tour of sightseeing around the Kathmandu valley. You will visit the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. You will also visit Swyambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, a 2000 year old temple, and visit Patan City, famous for its fine arts and and historical architecture. drive back to hotel.

Day 03: Flight or drive to Pokhara: After breakfast we will drive you to the Domestic Airport to take a 25 minute flight to Pokhara. During the short flight to Pokhara you will have majestic views of the glorious Manaslu peaks and the snow-capped Annapurna mountain range, as well as the Langtang Himalayan range. Our Staff will meet you at Pokhara Airport and take you to your hotel. Similarly you can drive to Pojkhara by tourist coach via scenic Prthivi highway. 6 to 7 hour drive take you to Pokhara. A boating trip on Phewa Lake will follow where you can enjoy the spectacular views of Annapurna Himalayan Range reflected in all its glory in the calm green waters of the lake and visit the temple which is only accessible by boat, overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Pokhara trekking to Ghandruk (1940m): One hour drive to Nayapul. After Birethanti, we walk along the terraced fields beneath the splendid panorama of awe-inspiring glaciated Himalayan mountain ranges. After passing a flatland, forest, cultivated lands and a suspension bridge over Khumnu Khola, we arrive at the beautiful village of Ghandruk after walking for 3 to 4 hours. An ideal vantage point in this pristine village offers breathtaking views of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Machhapuchhare and Hiunchuli, overnight at guest house

Day 05: Ghandruk trekking to Choomrong (2040m): Working through a flat level for an hour passing through terraces, streams and green scenery, you will work down to Kimrung Khola, from here trail start ascending, you will work through rhododendron forest and nice terraces, Stay at Chhomrong(2040m) towering above the villages is the mighty peak of Annapurna south, with the Fishtail facing it across the valley

Day 06: Chhomrong trekking to Dovan (2540m): We walk through the forest of Kuldighar . The track winds steeply up through deep bamboo and rhododendron forest to the village of Dovan , overnight at guest house.

Day 07: Dovan trekking to Machhapuchre Base Camp (3700m): A trek of the narrow Modi khola valley will bring you almost to the base of the M.B.C. Today we climb on past the Machhapuchhare Base Camp (which isn't really a base camp since climbing the mountain is not permitted) to the Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) . This area is called the Annapurna Sanctuary since it is totally surrounded by mountains. From here it is a two-hour trek to Annapurna Base camp, which offers spectacular views (5:30 hrs).Here you will spend a day gazing away at the snow covered peaks above and the beauty of the landscape around, overnight at Maccapuchhre base camp in guest hosue.

Day 08: Machhapuchhure Base Camp trekking to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m). After Breakfast, walking for about two hours through magnificent Mountain View, your way leads to Annapurna base camp. Here you stand in the sanctuary to feel breathtaking 360 degree views. Here cloud rolls early and the curtain often lifts at sunrise to reveal radiant, glowing peaks. You will find yourself at rest and that you will chill out at Annapurna base camp to explore around. (In incase you feel altitude sickness or any related problem we will take you down to MBC or Deurali).

Day 09: Annapurna Base Camp Trekking to Bamboo (2340m) your trek today goes from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2300m). Today the trail gradually goes down to Bamboo through Himalayan Hotel and Dovan. At night you will find yourself at guest house.

Day 10: Bamboo Trekking to Jhinu Danda (1750m). As you find yourself at Chhomrong, an hour walk will take you to Jhinu Danda where you can enjoy the natural hot spring. At night you will be at guest house.

Day 11: Jhinu Hot Spring to Pothana (1990m): After breakfast next morning, the trail continues on to Landruk, a beautiful Gurung village which provides you an excellent view of the surrounding mountain ranges. The trail emerges in the main Modi Khola valley and reaches Tolkha. After that we will continue on to Pothana, overnight at gust house. You will have a excellent view of Mt Fish tail ( Machhapuchhare 6697m) from here.

Day 12: Pothana to Pokhara: Today we will walk along a paved stone trail through Rhododendron forests arriving at Dhampus (1750m). This village is inhabited by a mix of people from different Nepalese cultures, Gurung, Brahman, and Magar communities. After a rest here we will walk mostly down hill through fields to the forest and on to Phedi. From Phedi there will be a 30 minute drive to Pokhara. Afternoon you can boating in phewa lake and looking around Pokhara, overnight at hotel.

Day 13: Drive or take a flight to Kathmandu. It is 25 minutes flight to Kathmandu or 6 to 7 hour drive by tourist coach, evening join Nepali cultural dinner show, overnight at hotel.

Day 14: Final Departure, we will take you to the Kathmandu Airport to catch your flight home.

If above itinerary couldn’t meet your needs, we can design a tailor-made itinerary to suit your needs. We can make the trek shorter by taking a flight to Pokhara and start the trek in same day  there are flight from morning to mid afternoon to Pokhara, similarly you can spend more days in Pokhara also, you can do the trek shorter or longer as per your time table and fitness level. Please let us know whether you would like to make it shorter or longer.

The total cost for the trek or tour you decide you want to do will depend on several different factors. The type of accommodation you prefer in Kathmandu and/or Pokhara will make a difference to the overall cost (budget to 5 star accommodation) The mode of transport you prefer will also affect the cost of your package, for example prices vary greatly between flying versus private car/van, tourist or local buses. The number of guides and/or porters required will also affect the total cost of your trek. For these reasons the same trek/tour can vary in price quite substantially.
