Markha Valley Tour in India traverses mountain passes to isolated villages and monastic settlements in the fantastically lit lunar landscape of the Markha Valley. The Markha Valley Trek is certainly one of the most varied and beautiful treks in the world. It ventures high into the Himalayas crossing two Passes over 15,000 Ft. as it circles from the edges of the Indus Valley. With its excellent trekking routes, colorful Buddhist religion and charming inhabitants, India's northern region of Ladakh makes for an exciting location for Markha valley tour. Markha has a remote feel that belies its proximity to the heart of Ladakh, ideal for Buddhist monks in search of seclusion.
Since 1974, when Ladakh first became accessible to foreign visitors, this high and arid region has captured the imagination of adventure travelers. Our journey starts out by way of the exciting flight to Delhi and next morning to Leh. Start in the beautiful metalworking village of Chiling on the Zanskar River, one of many lovely orchard campsites. With time to explore the active monasteries on the way, reach at Skiu and Markha village. Along the way we pass prayer flags rippling silently in the fresh wind, and walk into small green valleys, greeted by cheery herders. We cross three passes including Kongmaru La (5150 Mts.). We descend the pass through a steep canyon with wonderful colored rock and then drive back to Leh.
Trekking along the Markha valley and River through "Little Tibet," one of the world's highest inhabited plateaus, we take in spectacular views of the Great Himalayan, Ladakh and Zanskar ranges. Markha valley tour will be an opportunity to visit the old monastery, famous for its paintings and to meet the peasants in the simplicity of their daily life.
