Mani Rimdu is a festival celebrated by Sherpas and Lamas at Tengboche Monasteries of Solukhumbu district. The ceremony is 19-days sequence and series of events of empowerment with 3- days public festival. People from the Sherpa and Tibetan Communities gather and celebrate this festival with the Monastic community.

Mani Rimdu festival Trek is specially designed for those adventurers who desire to make a cultural journey into the Everest Region with Monasteries and Sherpa Cultural view. This Trek in  Everest passes through the luxuriant alpine forest and wildlife, raging glacial rivers and waterfalls, stony trails, mountains, and Buddhist monasteries. Along with trekking in the region surrounded by Himalaya peaks and culture enthusiasts, you will get to visit ancient monasteries and witness the cultural life of the Highland Sherpa’s. The greatest prize of all is the Cultural trekking in Everest with the panoramic view of the topmost peaks like the Everest (8848m), Mt. Lhotse (8618m), Mt. Nuptse and much more. We will also enjoy the Sherpa village and wild life museums in Khumjung villages during this Trek. 

Mani Rimdu Festival Trek begins with a flight to Lukla and continues to most magnificent and picturesque of the eastern Nepal, Namche Bazaar. We pass through the villages interspersed with the forest of rhododendron, magnolia trees and giant first which are the major attraction of this trek. There is a great view of Kangpoche and Kwangde and to the north is the Nangpa La Thame Gompa situated above the village. During this Trek, you will have an opportunity to stumble upon with Barking Deer, Musk Deer, and the Himalayan Tahr or mountain goat. You will also have a chance to visit one of the active monasteries in Khumbu region Tengboche. We will also witness the Buddhist dance spectacle presented each year in the Khumbu region by the monks of Tengboche Monastery in Mani Rimdu festival.

Mani Rimdu Festival Trek is distinguished with cultural and traditional assets of unique Nepal. It offers the passage of different villages with the study of Mani Rimdu festival, traditions and lifestyle of the ethnic group living in those remote villages of Nepal. 

Day 01: Welcome at Kathmandu Airport:
After arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and we transfer you to hotel.  After having freshened up from long flight make a visit to our office. We will have briefing about the program and managing the other necessary documentations. If you come late, this will be done at the very next morning.

Day 02: A full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley:
After breakfast leave for a full day's tour of sightseeing around the Kathmandu valley. On our guided journey visit center of pilgrimage Pashupatinath Temple and Swyambhunath, very ancient and enlisted in UNESCO World Heritage sites. The biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhnath might make you feel calm and peace. On journey back to hotel, you can enjoy the local areas and famous streets enjoying the local life style.

Day 03: Flight to Lukla and trek to Phakding (2,652m).
After having a 35 minutes scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla continue trek to Phakding, which takes approximately 3 hours on the way you will have a view of Mt Nupla(5885m) Kusum Kangaru (6367m) and mount kongde range. Overnight in Phakding.

Day 04: Phakding trek to Namche (3,440m)
Beginning with a slight climb to Jhorsalle, the trail passes a waterfall. All day, we pass villages interspersed with magnificent forest- rhododendron, magniolia trees and giant firs. And on the way to walking you will be rewarded (weather permitting) your first glimpse of Kusum Kanggru (6369m) Thamserku (6608m) Everest (8848m) and Nuptse (7879 m). Take steep climb up to the beautiful village of Namche bazaar (3440m).

Day 05: Acclimatization day in Namche.
Acclimatization is most important before proceeding to a higher elevation. It is therefore recommended that you take a short day's hike to Thame, Khunde or Khumjung or relax and explore the sherpa culture of Namche.

Day 06: Namche Bazaar trek to Thame:
Today you will work through many prayer flags, mani walls and carved stones. After decending to the Bhote Koshi River the trail climbs steeply to Thame. You will have a good view of of Teng Kangpoche and Kwangde and to the north is the Nangpa La Thame Gompa is situated above the village. Mani Rimdu festival is celebrated here in the spring.

Day 07: Thame trek to Khumjung (3790m):
From Thame we come to Khumjung which is about five hours working slowly. We stop at Kumjung where there is a school built by Hillary trust. The views of Amadablam, Thamserku and Tawache are really breathtaking from Khumjung. Overnight in Khumjung.

Day 08: Khumjung trek to Tengboche:
The trail goes gently down to the Sanasa from where you will have a good view of Mt Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru. After having a lunch in Phungi thanga the trail steeply goes to Tengboche which is famous for its legendary monastery, the largest in the Khumbu region.

Day 09: Tengboche trek to Monjo:
Working down to Phungi thanga from here trail climbs again to sanasa. You will have a lunch at Namche Bazaar. After lunch continue trek down to Monjo.

Day 10: Monjo trek back to Lukla
Last day of the trek in a bustling town enjoy dinner with your Trekking crew

Day 11: Fly back to Kathmandu
Early morning we will have exciting about 40 minute's flight back to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. You will enjoy a free time with good hot showers and rest in the hotels gardens.

Day 12: Final Departure
We will drive to the airport for your return flight.

Passport and Visas:

First, be sure you have a valid passport with at least 6 months validity from return date.  You can obtain visas for Nepal from the Nepalese Consulate in your country or up on arrival in Kathmandu Airport. Nepalese visas cost USD 25 for 15 days and USD 40 for 30 days till date.


Get the required visa for Nepal.

You can get Nepal visa prior to arrival from the Nepalese Embassy at your home country. Likewise, you can easily get an up on arrival visa at Kathmandu airport and other different borders from Nepal. Bring Official Papers

Some of the required official documents are your valid passport, 4 extra passport sized photographs (for trekking permits), travel insurance, airline tickets and luggage tags. Visas can be obtained upon entry into Nepal. For detail information we request you to visit our visa page.


Money & Credit card Info

We find that most of the credit card, master and visa card is blocked from your card provider. It may be because of a security reason. It, sometimes, may bring you in problematic situation that you can't get money from ATMs and that you find difficult to pay for your treks and tour. To find yourself free from this problem, you can call to your card provider before you travel to Nepal and inform there that you are traveling to Nepal. Ensure them to give the authorization for the payment. In Nepal you have to pay 3.5 % credit card commission s per Nepal Bank rules, on top of your payable amount for the trek cost.  So, please be sure that you bring some cash in USD to pay us. Likewise, be sure you have brought some small amount for your daily expenses as well as for those items which are not included in our cost. We request you not to change money in the Airport. The exchange rate is very low there. Our office provides you the facility to change your money. Or, you can take help from Money Changers in Thamel


Travel Insurance:

Our clients must have comprehensive travel insurance package. Their insurance must cover against medical, personal accident, emergency evacuation, trip cancellation, lost of gears, natural calamity, theft of or damage to baggage etc.


Load shedding (Electricity crisis) in Nepal

We are sorry to inform you that though Nepal is rich in water resource, there is electricity crisis in Nepal. It is more likely that there is electricity off for some hours in day and night time.  Most of the hotels in Kathmandu, Pokhara and other cities are likely to have no battery backup. Air condition may not work and, sometimes, TV and other electric utensils may not run. Some hotel is likely to run the TV and AC also. However, only few of them are in this category.
So, be prepared for this while you are traveling here.  For your ease, we recommend you to bring the flashlight with extra bulbs and batteries.


Flight delay:

Flight by plane and helicopter are prone to cancellations. Sometimes, flight may delay for notorious weather in remote areas. Some other times, operational complication may occur which is more likely to happen in Everest region -Lukla flight, Annapurna region- Jomsom flight, Dolpa, Simikot , Jumla region etc. As these flights have some problem with fixed schedule, it is also recommended to carry extra money for food and accommodations. Trekking in the remote areas, especially during odd season, you’re advised to reserve extra days to prepare with some delays and avoid frustrating consequence. In case of delay in flight prior to trek departure or at the end of the trek, you need to meet your accommodation, food costs by yourself.


Who can trek?

No special degree of fitness is required and that there is no age barrier. However, in the areas over 3000m altitude, extra care should be taken. One can trek who have strong legs and the spirit for adventure to explore the exotic will enjoy the thrills of trekking in the hills of Nepal. Our Trekking Dates

Most of our treks start on the third day of your arrival. On the first day of your arrival, we will pick you from the airport and let you know your hotel. However, it depends on your arrival time. If your flight is early, we are likely to invite you to our office and make yourself comfort with ideas and brief information on your trek package. If you arrive at night, all the arrangements are likely to made the morning. Second day, it is our package to take you for sightseeing tour within Kathmandu valley. However, the trekkers who have limited time can start their trekking from the second day. We can arrange all the necessary trekking permits and other utensils in advance in case you have limited time. It is your third day that you will fly out of Kathmandu. However, if any further arrangement is still at wait, you can enjoy your trek the next day.


Clothing and Equipment for Traveling in Nepal

Trekking in the Himalayas need to arrangement of equipment as you have to find yourself comfortable at higher altitude. The basic clothing item that you are expected to be prepared with are well described here. Remember that excess baggage is likely to be a burden for yourself and your supporting staff. Buying and Renting Equipment in Kathmandu

It is not really necessary to spend large amount of money buying extra equipment and clothing prior to your trip. It is because most of the trekking equipment can be hired from many adventure shops within Kathmandu. Most of the gear is locally manufactured (hence a lot cheaper). Some Chinese gear are likely to be more expensive but qualitative. Sleeping bag and down jacket are easily rented. Each item can be rented for less than USD 1, for a day. You have to manage other items buying them yourself. However, these items are more likely to be cheaper than those in your hometown. We will arrange all the necessary items you need on the second day of your arrival. Moreover, we ourselves will fascinate you to buy the goods.  


Vaccination for Nepal

All travelers should consult with their physician or update on vaccination requirements before travel. (Your doctor or health-care provider will determine what you will need, depending on factors such as your health and immunization history, areas of the country you will be visiting, and planned activities)
For traveling to Nepal; we recommend you to take a vaccination of Polio, Tetanus, Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Rabies etc, it is not really must but recommended.

We need 20% booking amount to confirm your booking, the payment can be made through the Bank transfer, Credit card payment (Master/Visa card ) or through online money transfers also Money Gram, Western Unions or others. After we get the 20% amount we will confirm your booking and you will get the official booking and payment receipt. The final balance for the tour will be paid up on arrival in Kathmandu.
