Everest Gokyo Lake TrekWe fly to Lukla and begin trekking through the land of the legendary Sherpas in to the Sagarmatha (Everest) national park. Since the successful ascent of Everest the Khumbu region has enjoyed the international attention. We will follow the footsteps of Tenzing Norgay, Hillary.. Our first destination is Namche Bazaar, the trading capital and main town of the Khumbu region.

 

This trek explores around the breathtaking Gokyo valley which is located adjacent of the Khumbu. Gokyo is a land of high altitude lakes. From where you will have a magnificent view of highest peaks, from the west to east are Cho you (8,153m), Gyachung Kang (7,922m), Everest ( 8848m), Lhotse (8,501m) and further way Makalu, On the way to descent you can enjoy, superb view of Gokyo Lake.

Everest Gokyo ri Trekking itinerary details:

Day 01: Meet at Kathmandu Airport :
We will meet you at the Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to your hotel. When you have had time to settle in and freshen up after your long flight, you will be invited to visit our office for a briefing about your programme.
During this visit we will help you check your equipment and facilitate the processing of other necessary items such as National Park Permits etc.

Day 2: Sight-seeing of Kathmandu: Leave for full day sightseeing in Kathmandu valley includes the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. Also visit Monkey Temple the Swyambhunath (2000 years old temple) and visit Patan city of fine arts. Back to hotel and stay.

Day 3: Flight from KTM – Lukla trekking to Phakding. After having a 35 minutes scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla continue trek to Phakding, which takes approximately 3 hours on the way you will have a view of mt Nupla( 5885m) Kusum Kangaru (6367m) and mount kongde range. Overnight in Phakding (2,652m).

Day 4:Phakding trekking to Namche - Beginning with a slight climb to Jhorsalle, the trail pases a waterfall. Ass day, we pass villages interspersed with magnificent forest- rhododendron, magniolia trees and giant firs. And on the way to walking you will be rewarded a view of tantalizing glimpse of Kusum Kanggru ( 6369m) Thamserku (6608m) Everest ( 8848m) Nuptse ( 7879 m) staying at Namche bazaar (3440m).

Day 5: Acclimatization day in Namche -  Acclimatization is most important before proceeding to a higher elevation. You can set off on a short day hike to Thame, Khunde ofr Khumjung or relax and explore the sherpa culture of Namche.-

Day 6:Namchebazaar trekking to Phortse Thanga: Leave Namche along the direction of the gompa adn turn right afater the large rocks engraved with Buddhist images.The trek climbs the hill to Khumjung and descends to the valley of Dudhkoshi and arrives at Phortse Thanga (3,500m) which offers supreb views of Thamserku(6,608m), Kangtewa

Day 7:Phortse Thanga trekking  to Machermo: This will be another short day trek to aid acclimatization to the altitude.The path goes through the middle of forest and offers the first view of Cho you peak (8,153m), working , through rhododendron forest and juniper and large conifers appear as the elevation increases making the trekking beautiful in spring. The trail passes through kharkas and summer settlements to Dole after thatWe wil work across a rocky terrain scattered with a few dwarf rhododendrons. staying overnight at Machermo at (4,410m)

Day 8:Machermo trekking Gokyo Lakes : The trail climbs a ridge for an excellent view both down the valley to Kengtega and up towards Cho Oyu and descend to a river and again climbs steep to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpz glacier. A few lakes appear on the trail and finally reach to Gokyo (4,750m), which is a collection of stone houses and walled pastures on the shores of large lake. The mountain views in the Gokyo region are spectacular. A two-hour climbing on Gokyo Ri (5350m), the small peak above the lake provides panoramic views of Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Lhotse, Makalu, cholatse and Tawache

Day 09: Gokyo Lake explore around and trekking down to Dole: The excursion to the Gokyo peak usually starts early in the morning. The climb is quite steep first 30 minutes; it will take you an hour to reach the top with its traditional prayer flags. From where you will have a magnificent view of highest peaks, from the west to east are Cho you (8,153m), Gyachung Kang (7,922m), Everest ( 8848m), Lhotse (8,501m) and further way Makalu, On the way to descent you can enjoy, superb view of Gokyo Lake. Afternoon trek down to Dole.

Day 10: Dole trekking to Khumjung: After breakfast we will work to Khumjung, Khumjung is the largest settlement village in the Sherpa land where you will have chance to see real Sherpas’ life style and there cultural activities, The village has also a high school which is funded by Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation and also an old monastery where they have preserved famous Yeti skull.

Day 11:Khumjung trekking down to Phakding, the trail again drops to Namche Bazar and have a short tea/coffee stop and continue descending via same route and on the way stop for the lunch break an hour at Jorsale Village and continue work to Phakding.

Day 12: Phakding trekking back to Lukla: Last day of the trek in a bustling town enjoy dinner with Your Trekking crew.

Day 13: Flight from Lukla - KTM, Saying goodbye to our porters, we board our flight and make the exciting one-hour flight back to Kathmandu. If the flight is under schedule, we are likely to be back at our hotel before noon and you can have good shower and afternoon rest.

Day 14: Today you will be free to spend the afternoon shopping, It's also spare day in case of bad weather in Lukla which makes the Lukla flight delayed and cancel. In the evening you can enjoy a typical Nepalese dinner and cultural show.

Day 15: Depart Kathmandu: If you are leaving Nepal and not continuing your holiday here in Nepal, we will take you to the Kathmandu Airport to catch your flight home. Our staff will oversee your safe and timely arrival at the Tribhuvan International Terminal and help you arrange your last minute departure details.

We will wish you a happy journey in the traditional and cultural way of Nepal and hope to see you again!

The total cost for the trek or tour you decide you want to do will depend on several different factors. The type of accommodation you prefer in Kathmandu and/or Pokhara will make a difference to the overall cost (budget to 5 star accommodation) The mode of transport you prefer will also affect the cost of your package, for example prices vary greatly between flying versus private car/van, tourist or local buses. The number of guides and/or porters required will also affect the total cost of your trek. For these reasons the same trek/tour can vary in price quite substantially.
