Everest Kalapathar Trek

With eight of the world’s ten highest peaks, Nepal is loaded with spectacular mountains vistas. Everest trek is not only famous for its proximity to the world’s highest mountain (8848m.) but also for its friendly Sherpa people, picturesque villages, great variety of cultures and traditions, colorful festivals and monasteries. The flora and fauna are other ornaments of the Sagarmatha National Park . This trek offers an enduring experience of natural beauty, geological magnificence with the breathtaking views of Everest

The spectacular flight to lukla, and the start of the trek to Namche bazaar, the colorful center of Sherpa life and a meeting place for Himalayan traders and yak caravans. From Kalapathar (5545m) offers the best vantage point for viewing Everest. Tengboche Monastery, the focus of Sherpa Buddhist devotion, sits at an elevation of 3,867n with Ama Dablam (6856m) as a magnificent backdrop.

There are many options for additional exploration and high-altitude walking, including the crossing of Cho La, a 5420m, hike to Gokyo Ri . Strenuous trekking is continuously rewarded with dramatic Himalayan scenes, including four of the world’s highest peaks: Cho Oyu (8,201m.), Makalu (8,463m.), Lhotse (8,516m.) and Everest (8,848m)

Itinerary Details

Days 1:

Meet at Kathmandu Airport and transfer to hotel

Days 2:

Sight-seeing of Kathmandu: Full day’s sightseeing in Kathmandu valley includes the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. Also visit Monkey Temple the Swyambhunath (2000 years old temple) and visit Patan city of fine arts. Return to the hotel.

Days 3:
Flight from KTM – Lukla. After having a 35 minuates scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla continue trek to Phakding, which takes approximately 3 hours on the way you will have a view of mt Nupla( 5885m) Kusum Kangaru (6367m) and mount kongde range. Overnight in Phakding (2,652m).
Days 4:
Phakding to Namche (3,440m)- Beginning with a slight climb to Jhorsalle, the trail passes a waterfall. All day, we pass villages interspersed with magnificent forest- rhododendron, magniolia trees and giant firs. And on the way to walking you will be rewarded (weather permitting) your first glimpse of Kusum Kanggru (6369m) Thamserku (6608m) Everest (8848m) and Nuptse (7879 m). A steep climb up to the beautiful village of Namche bazaar (3440m).
Days 5:
Acclimatization day in Namche. Acclimatization is most important before proceeding to a higher elevation. It is therefore recommended that you take a short days hike to Thame, Khunde or Khumjung or relax and explore the sherpa culture of Namche.
Days 6:
Namche to Tengboche (3,867m): after walking one hour you arrive in phungithanga from there the trail climbs through forests where you can spot musk deer. Tengboche sits on a saddle at 3870m in a clearing surrounded by dwarf fires and rododendroms. Kwongde (6187m) Tawache(6542m) Everest (8848m) Nuptse (7855m) Lhotse (8618m) Amadablam (6856m) Thamserku (6608m) provide and inspiring panorama of Himalayan giants. We visit the Bhuddist Monastry at Tengboche, the largest in Khumbu region.
Days 7:
Tengboche to Pheriche: Beyond Tengboche the altitude really starts to tell. The trail droops down to Dingboche, crosses the Imja Khola and climbs past superb mani stones ( carved with the Tibetan Buddhist chant om mani padme hum) to Pangboche at 3860m The gompa here is worth visiting. Then the trail start climbs to Pheriche 4240m. Where there is a medical facility, which gives lectures everyday on Altitude Sickness.
Days 8:

Another acclimatization day, again walking up and then coming back down is better than just resting in high altitude, you can make a day trip to Nangkartshang Gompa or up the hil to lok down onto Dingboche, Either walk offers good views.

Days 9:
Pheriche to Lobuche - The trail climbs to Phalang karpo at 4340m then Duglha at 4620m,From Dughla the trail ascends the broad, gently slopping valley and climb steeply in to the terminal moraine of the Khumbu glacier then left in to the memorial area Chukpilhara, before reaching the Lobuche at 4930m
Days10:
Lobuche to Gorakshep. The trail from Lobuche follows the grassy ablation valley with great views of Pumori then crosses tributary glaciers to reach the dry lake bed of Gokrakchep.you can have a rest after lunch or can walk to Everest Base Camp. It will be about 4 and half hours trek up to Everest Base Camp and back to Gorakshep. The trek is on glacier and snow capped rocks.
Days 11:
Gorakshep to Kala Patthar : an early morning climb to Kala Patthar (5545m.) to enjoy the view of sunrise. From Kala Patthar you can have a panoramic view of Mt. Everest and many other mountain peaks like Mt. Pumori , Khumbetse, Mt. Lingtren Mt. Lhotse , Mt. Nuptse , Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku and other mountains. After trek down to Pheriche (the place have a good facilities of International Telephone and medical treatment.)
Days 12:
Pheriche to Phortse The trail descends to Pangboche and now the trail starts turning up and down in every half an hour to Phortse. You will have an opportunity to see wild life in the area like mountain goat, musk deer and many species of Himalayan birds. Overnight in Phortse (3750m)
Days 13:
Phortse to Khumjung (3790m.) after working few minuates down and one hour up you will arrive at Mongla. From here you will see a panoramic view of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kusum Kangaru, Konde-Ri and Tawache peak. After working 2 hour you will arrive Khumjung (3780m), Khumjung is the largest settlement village in the Sherpa land where you will have chance to see real Sherpas’ life style and there cultural activities, The village has also a high school which is funded by Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation and also an old monastery where they have preserved famous Yeti skull.
Days 14:

Khumjung to Phakding, the trail again drops to Namche Bazar and have a short tea/coffee stop and continue descending via same route and on the way stop for the lunch break an hour at Jorsale Village and continue work to Phakding.

Days 15:
Phakding to Lukla: Last day of the trek in a bustling town enjoy dinner with Your Trekking crew.
Days 16:
Flight from Lukla - KTM, transfer to hotel
Days 17:
Kathmandu free day, evening culture show with Nepali dinner, hotel
Days 18:
Final departure, transfer to airport
