Most of the trekking in Everest regions now starts from Lukla after getting a short flight from Katmandu . The trekkers who have a good walking experience and a good physical health condition want to adventurous and classical trekking in Everest region ,jiri Everest base camp trekking is an best options. This trekking route first used by the early expedition's team to climb Everest from the Nepalese side. Starting from Jiri,The trekking passes through parts of Solukhumbu that are relatively undeveloped compared with the northern part of the district around Namche Bazaar. This enables trekkers to experience many traditional aspects of the culture of the local people that are less easy to see above Lukla.
The trail passes through numerous settlements of different ethnic groups including Tamang, Jirel, Rai, Brahmin and Chhetri and, in highlands of course the Sherpas, trekkers have the chance to visit its many colorful gompas, and have tea with their monks. The trekking trail below Namche though not long on mountain views, but it pass through numerous interesting villages that are now visited by a small number of trekkers each year.
Jiri Everest Base Camp trekking is best for acclimatize as the trail goes slowly higher and higher, after having rest day at Namche Bazaar , trails continues for famous active Monastery at Khumbu Reging Tengboche Monastery where trekkers will be rewarded by the panoramic view of Everest 8848m, Cho Oyu 8152m, Lhotse 8516m, Makalu 8463m and Ama Dablam 6456m, thamserkku and many other soroundings mountain. The trekking across wide trails to different small settlements, gaining altitude steadily. The part to Kala Patthar and Mt Everest Base Camp arrive through paths of many ups and downs. Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trekking Itinerary
Day 01:Meet at Kathmandu Airport Transfer to Hotel :
We will meet you at the Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to your hotel.
When you have had time to settle in and freshen up after your long flight, you will be invited to visit our office for a briefing about your programme.
During this visit we will help you check your equipment and facilitate the processing of other necessary items such as National Park Permits etc.
Day 2: A full days sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley.
The next morning after breakfast you will leave for a full days tour of sightseeing around the Kathmandu valley.
You will visit the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. You will also visit Swyambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, a 2000 year old temple, and visit Patan City, famous for its fine arts and and historical architecture. On return to your hotel you will have time to explore the local area, have dinner and perhaps take a leisurely stroll through the famous Durbar Square .
Day 03: Kathmandu drive to Jiri 187 km: from Kathmandu by local express bus, it will take about 7 to 8 hour drive to reach Jiri through scenic road.
Day 04: Jiri trek to Deorali: The trek begins with a steady climb through cultivated fields and tiny Tamang villages. Climbing diagonally, we cross forested areas and open pasture land before again descending to Shivalaya. From here it's steady climb to the top of the Deorali pass (3000m) where we spend the night.
Day 05: Deorali trek to Sete: From Deorali, it's a short walk to the Sherpa village of Bhandara which is littered with prayer walls and small gompas ( Buddhist temples) Descending to the valley floor at the river side town of Kenja, the trail climbs steeply up a ridge ruchly forested with oak and rhododendron to Sete ( 2575m) whose beautiful hilltop monastery is a worth a visit.
Day 06: Sete trek to Junbesi: We climb through fragrant pine and oak forest to the Lamjura pass ( 3500m) for our first glimpse of Everest, then it's downhill again to the large Sherpa village of Junnbesi. From here there are good views Gaurishankar, Number Himal and Dudh Kunda.
Day 07:Junbesi trek to Nuntala: From here we walk up the solung ridge, from where Everest is again visible and then descend to Ringo Khola, ringed with apple orchards. The trail crosses the Traksindola (3071m) before descending once again through the forest to Nuntala.
Day 08: Nuntala trek to Kharikhola: From Nuntala the descend continues to Dudh Koshi (Milk river) the largest river on the trek. Then ascend through several Sherpa and Rai villages. Terraced fields and forest to the spread out village of Khari-Khola
Day 09:Khari-Khola trek to Puiyan: The path ascends through Sherpa villages and a forest inhabited by monkeys, and then winds steeply up and down through the Dudh Koshi canyan to Puiyan.
Day 10: Puiyan trek to Phakding: The trail climbs for about an hour after Puiyan to a ridge at 2800m. Then up to another ridge. Passing the path to Lukla airport, after which we climb on to Phakding.
Day 11: Phakding trek to Namche (3,440m) - Beginning with a slight climb to Jhorsalle, the trail passes a waterfall. All day, we pass villages interspersed with magnificent forest- rhododendron, magnolia trees and giant firs. And on the way to walking you will be rewarded (weather permitting) your first glimpse of Kusum Kangaru (6369m) Thamserku (6608m) Everest (8848m) and Nuptse (7879 m). A steep climb up to the beautiful village of Namche bazaar (3440m).
Day 12: Acclimatization day in Namche. Acclimatization is most important before proceeding to a higher elevation. It is therefore recommended that you take a short days hike to Thame, Khunde or Khumjung or relax and explore the Sherpa culture of Namche.
Day 13: Namche trek to Tengboche (3,867m): after walking one hour you arrive in phungithanga from there the trail climbs through forests where you can spot musk deer. Tengboche sits on a saddle at 3870m in a clearing surrounded by dwarf fires and rododendroms. Kwongde (6187m) Tawache(6542m) Everest (8848m) Nuptse (7855m) Lhotse (8618m) Amadablam (6856m) Thamserku (6608m) provide and inspiring panorama of Himalayan giants. We visit the Buddhist Monastery at Tengboche, the largest in Khumbu region.
Day 14: Tengboche trek to Pheriche: Beyond Tengboche the altitude really starts to tell. The trail droops down to Dingboche, crosses the Imja Khola and climbs past superb mani stones ( carved with the Tibetan Buddhist chant om mani padme hum) to Pangboche at 3860m The gompa here is worth visiting. Then the trail start climbs to Pheriche 4240m. Where there is a medical facility, which gives lectures everyday on Altitude Sickness.
Day 15: Another acclimatization day, again walking up and then coming back down is better than just resting in high altitude, you can make a day trip to Nangkartshang Gompa or up the hill to look down on to Dingboche, and either walk offers good views.
Day 16: Pheriche trek to Lobuche - The trail climbs to Phalang karpo at 4340m then Duglha at 4620m,From Dughla the trail ascends the broad, gently slopping valley and climb steeply in to the terminal moraine of the Khumbu glacier then left in to the memorial area Chukpilhara, before reaching the Lobuche at 4930m
Day 17: Lobuche trek to Gorakshep. The trail from Lobuche follows the grassy ablation valley with great views of Pumori then crosses tributary glaciers to reach the dry lake bed of Gokrakchep.you can have a rest after lunch or can walk to Everest Base Camp. It will be about 4 and half hours trek up to Everest Base Camp and back to Gorakshep. The trek is on glacier and snow capped rocks.
Day 18: Gorakshep trek to Kala Patthar : an early morning climb to Kala Patthar (5545m.) to enjoy the view of sunrise. From Kala Patthar you can have a panoramic view of Mt. Everest and many other mountain peaks like Mt. Pumori , Khumbetse, Mt. Lingtren Mt. Lhotse , Mt. Nuptse , Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku and other mountains. After trek down to Pheriche (the place has good facilities of International Telephone and medical treatment.)
Day 19: Pheriche trek to Phortse The trail descends to Pangboche and now the trail starts turning up and down in every half an hour to Phortse. You will have an opportunity to see wild life in the area like mountain goat, musk deer and many species of Himalayan birds. Overnight in Phortse (3750m)
Day 20: Phortse trek to Khumjung (3790m.) after working few minutes down and one hour up you will arrive at Mongla. From here you will see a panoramic view of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kusum Kangaru, Konde-Ri and Tawache peak. After working 2 hour you will arrive Khumjung (3780m), Khumjung is the largest settlement village in the Sherpa land where you will have chance to see real Sherpa’s’ life style and there cultural activities, The village has also a high school which is funded by Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation and also an old monastery where they have preserved famous Yeti skull.
Day 21: Khumjung trek to Phakding, the trail again drops to Namche Bazar and have a short tea/coffee stop and continue descending via same route where we feel completely different views with the snap of mixture open plains, rhododendron and pine forests, and in the distance snow covered peaks. On the way stop for the lunch break an hour at Jhorsalle Village and continue trekking to Phakding.
Day 22: Phakding trek to Lukla: the final working day of the trekking leads us back to Lukla. On arrival in Lukla, we have plenty of time to relax, stretch those sore legs and recall the experience and memories of our trekking
Day 23: Flight from Lukla Kathmandu: the early morning flight takes us at Kathmandu . We will drop you to your hotel and you will be free to spend the afternoon shopping, enjoying the local culture and food and browsing the shops.
Day 24: Final Departure, we will take you to the Kathmandu Airport to catch your flight home. We will wish you a happy journey in the traditional and cultural way of Nepal and hope to see you again!
(Note: Domestic Flight by plane or helicopter from Lukla is prone to delayed by few hours or cancellations for a day for notorious weather. It happened very rarely in season trekking time but the weather can change immediately and can cancel the flights in October/November also. That’s why it is recommend you to add extra night in Kathmandu from your total trekking day and carry extra money to buy food and accommodations in case of delays. For your extra time after the trekking you can have free time in Kathmandu with rest or can go for rafting, sightseeing or shopping)

The total cost for the trek or tour you decide you want to do will depend on several different factors. The type of accommodation you prefer in Kathmandu and/or Pokhara will make a difference to the overall cost (budget to 5 star accommodation) The mode of transport you prefer will also affect the cost of your package, for example prices vary greatly between flying versus private car/van, tourist or local buses. The number of guides and/or porters required will also affect the total cost of your trek. For these reasons the same trek/tour can vary in price quite substantially.
