Helambu lies 75 km north from Kathmandu. The Helambu trek provides you with memorable life experience. You would be glad to perceive this sacred, peaceful and calm area for trekking. Trek in Helambu region, in addition, is relatively easy. The landscape is classic Himalayan foothills, with plenty of dramatic rises and plummeting descents. Treks in this region start from Sundarijal. Trekking from Sundarijal ascend to Chisopani, Gulbhanjyang, Mangegot, Tharepati, Melamchi Village and finally desends to Tarke Ghyang, Sarmathang, Timbu, Kakani, Talamarang an Melamchipul bazaar. This trip involves moderate hiking and reaches a height of 3500 m. As you head there, you are likely to pass Mountain View point, alpine meadows and Buddhist villages as well. This trek involves a loop around the Helambu region of the park and gives you great contact with local villages and the people that inhabit them. This area is and even on clear day you can see Mt. Everest Circuit and even on clear day you can see Mt. Everest from here.
The major highlight of the trek is that the circuit lies to the north of Kathmandu and offers the nearest experience of Sherpa culture without having to go to Everest region. You can make Langtang trek or Goshainkunda trek along with Helambu circuit trek that enables to experience something more in a single visit. The trekking is relatively popular among those who enjoy visiting peaceful and natural environment of blissful nature.

Helambu Trekking Itinerary
Day 1: Meet at Kathmandu Airport :
We will meet you at the Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to your hotel. When you have had time to settle in and freshen up after your long flight, you will be invited to visit our office for a briefing about your program.
During this visit we will help you check your equipment and facilitate the processing of other necessary items such as National Park Permits etc.
Day 2: A full days sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley.
After you have had your breakfast we will take you on a sightseeing tour around the Kathmandu valley. You will visit the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. You will also visit Swyambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, a 2000 year old temple, A visit to Patan City will enchant you with it’s famous fine arts and historical architecture. On return to your hotel you will have time to explore the local area, have dinner and perhaps take a leisurely stroll through the famous Durbar Square.
Day 3: Kathmandu Drive to Sundarijal (1350m) trekking to Chisopani (2140m).
Drive about 1 hour from Kathmandu takes you to trek start point Sundarijal. From Sundarijal the trail climb up besides the water pipes which supplies Kathmandu drinking water, the trail will enter through the Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. The trail continues up hill through the forest to meet the Mulkharka Villages with the inhabitants of Tamanag people.
The trail continues with climbing on the forest of rhododendron and oaks after pass the Borlang Bhanjyang trail goes downhill to Chisopani (2140m), The mountain views are excellent from here can see the the views of Annapurna to Everest, overnight at lodge
Day 4: Chisopani trekking to Gul Bhanjyang (2140 m): the trails runs out of the villages and continues level among pine plantation before arrive Pati Bhanjyang a lovely small village. From here the trail goes through small chortens,fields and forest mostly up and down hill before arriving Gul Bhanjyang ( 2140m), overnight in lodge.
Day 5: Gulbhanjyang trekking to Tharepati (3597m): Today to trail steady climb through prickly leaved oak forest with excellent views of the mountains and the Helambu valley, Following a ridge line, the trail continues via lightly populated forest to Magen Goth from where the view of Langtang and Gosaikund peak is stunning, Above Magin Goth the trails climbs steeply through dense pine forest passing severeal chortens and ruined huts. when we arrived at Tharepati Rise early for excellent close up views of Gosainkunda and surrounding high mountains. Overnight at lodge.
Day 6: Tharepati trekking to Melamchi Gaon (2640m) : A short, steep descent through mixed fir and rhododendron forest rich with bird life. Crashing waterfalls sound from the rocky gullies below as you approach Melamchi Gaon. Overnight in lodge
Day 7: Melamchi gaon trekking to Tarkeghyang (2560m) : The trail descends steeply to the valley floor, where you can have a well earned dip in the crystal- clear river before completing the short and mild ascent up the other side of the valley. Tarkeghyang boasts an 18th century Gompa with huge brass prayer wheel. Overnight in lodge
Day 8: Tarkegyang trekking to Sermathang (2621m) : A flat pleasant walk through the beautiful forest takes you to Shermathang This is a an entering Sherpa village and they will be happy to introduce themselves that they are different from the Sherpa of Khumbu(Everest region) In the clear day the villages provide good views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Gosainkunda and Rolwaling even Everest too in a distance. Overnight at lodge
Day 9: Shermathang Trekking to Melamchi Bazaar (828m) and drive to Kathmandu: .Today The trail gradually descends all the way to Melamchi Pul Bazaar through meadows and cultivated fields. On the way, you come across several old villages. With the spectacular Mountain View, you will get to interact with local and friendly people. Drive back to Kathmandu by bus or private vehicle, join Nepali cultural dinner in the evening overnight in Kathmandu hotel.
Day 10: Final Departure: we will take you to the Kathmandu Airport to catch your flight home.

The total cost for the trek or tour you decide you want to do will depend on several different factors. The type of accommodation you prefer in Kathmandu and/or Pokhara will make a difference to the overall cost (budget to 5 star accommodation) The mode of transport you prefer will also affect the cost of your package, for example prices vary greatly between flying versus private car/van, tourist or local buses. The number of guides and/or porters required will also affect the total cost of your trek. For these reasons the same trek/tour can vary in price quite substantially.
