Mt. Kailash Manasarovar Yatra (14 days), holy kailash trek, tibet, tibet tour, kailash fixed departure, trek tibet, trekking in tibet, tours in tibet Saga Dawa festival in Tibet is celebrated on the 15th day of the 4th Tibetan month and is one of the most important Tibetan Buddhist Festival.

The fourth month on the Tibetan calendar is said to be the birthday of Sakyamuni, and the day when he died and attained Nirvana. During this period, hundreds of thousands of people turn their prayer wheels on the street in Lhasa, and then paddle boats in the Dragon King Pool, and sing and dance in the afternoon, Every year people from all over Tibet gather here that day to attach their prayer flags they brought from home, to pray, and to help erect the huge flagpole on the Kailash Kora.

The festival is observed by turning prayer wheels, rising flags, performing ritual dance having vegetarian food. Folk entertainers will perform Tibetan tradition; they will pay their homage to Buddha, observe a vegetarian rule, and refrain from killing domestic anima. The old prayer flagpole is taken down and the new one is put up. The prayer flagpole is a tall pole from which are hung hundreds if not thousands of multicolored prayer flags. Each prayer flag represents a prayer that someone wants fulfilled. The flags are let to fly in the air so as to increase the potential for answering. There is a tradition that if the pole is not set well upright, it means that Tibet is in trouble. So it is thought to be very important to set the pole up accurately, and only the best pole setter-upper is allowed to perform the duty. People are relieved and joyous if it is set up accurately. Adding to the spectacle of the Tibetans worshipping, the scenery in the area is ruggedly beautiful with rocky cliffs and high snowcapped mountain peaks.
